Flu Season 2020-2021
Blackstone Valley Community Health Care is committed to helping you and your loved ones stay healthy. We continue to take steps to protect our patients, visitors, and staff while providing the care and services you need. Flu season has started, and getting your flu vaccination this year is more important than ever.
Why getting the flu vaccine is important?
Getting a flu vaccine can help prevent the flu, and can help reduce the risk of serious illness if you get the flu. For more information, visit the CDC Website.
Who should get the Flu vaccine?
Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine. Vaccination is particularly important for people who are at high risk of serious complications from influenza. For more information, check out the CDC website. We encourage parents to schedule their child's flu vaccine at our upcoming flu clinics. There is an upcoming community flu clinic at Calcutt Middle School, for more information: English and Spanish.
Who should NOT get the vaccine?
- Children younger than 6 months of age are too young to get a flu shot
- People with severe, life-threatening allergies to flu vaccine or any ingredient in the vaccine
- See special considerations regarding egg allergy for more information about egg allergies and flu vaccine. Learn more here.
How to get your vaccine?
We offer flu vaccines at your regularly scheduled medical appointment and at our flu clinics. Look for information about receiving the flu vaccines at other locations such as your children's school, and local pharmacy.
