School Based Health Center

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the school-based health center in Central Falls High School is closed until further notice. However, Blackstone Valley Community Health Care (BVCHC) would like to continue to offer medical services to students. We will be prioritizing established BVCHC patients first. We recommend that those who have established medical care elsewhere contact their regular Primary Care Provider first.

We are performing most of our medical visits by phone or video, also known as “telehealth.” The following is a list of services that we are currently offering:

  • Sick visits
  • Treatment of minor musculoskeletal injuries
  • Behavioral health services
  • Family planning services
  • Emergency contraception
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections

We are able to offer confidential reproductive health services in accordance with state and federal laws.

We are not performing testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19) at this time. If you think you might have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19), please call your Primary Care Provider. If you would like to schedule a telephone visit, please call 401-722-0081.

Our school-based health center medical providers are:

  • Shannon Doran, PA-C
  • Alice Omerhi, NP
  • Joanna Brown, MD

What is a School-Based Health Center (SBHC)?

SBHC is a licensed primary care and behavioral health clinic on-site operated by Blackstone Valley Community Health Care (BVCHC).

Who can receive care at SBHC?

Students at Central Falls High School who receive primary care from BVCHC can receive care at the SBHC. If a student does not have a primary care provider, we are happy to enroll you with BVCHC.

We accept most forms of public and private health insurance. If you do not have insurance, we have enrollment staff at our clinic sites who can help you determine if you qualify for assistance, and help you enroll in the best-fit program. We encourage that you seek medical care regardless of ability to pay. To schedule an appointment with our enrollment staff, please call us at 401-722-0081.

After Hour Coverage

If you need to speak with someone when the SBHC is closed, please call our main call center at 401-722-0081. You can also access care at any clinic site including Express Health at our Blackstone Valley Neighborhood Health Station, 1000 Broad Street, Central Falls.
